Bitrefill is a company ahead of its time.
We were in crypto before it was cool. Fully remote before it was cool. Not in a hipster way: just pragmatically doing our stuff in the frontlines because that’s where progress is. This is the Bitrefill way.
We are a global company, from San Francisco to Delhi, from Stockholm to Johannesbourg, spanning 6 continents, speaking 15+ languages and serving the entire world. Diversity is not a corporate goal, is the beautiful consequence of being truly borderless.
Our lack of showmanship in an often extravagant world is easy to explain; when you are busy creating solutions to unsolved problems you overlook some less important stuff.
But now that we have arrived at this sweet spot - no company on Earth accepts more crypto payments than we do - it is time for us to tell you why we do it and who we are.
Our values:
-
Be Brave but not reckless
Working in crypto is venturing into the unknown. At Bitrefill, we build stuff that no one has ever built before. This takes guts. But we don’t sacrifice ethics, we measure uncertainties carefully, and we forge ahead because we are willing to take risks in order to move the needle.
-
Be Humble but not shy
No one knows everything, but everyone knows something. At Bitrefill, no matter who you are, we listen intently, we welcome challenges to our opinion and we argue thoughtfully because the best idea wins regardless of who it comes from. We are transparent and always prepared to explain “why”.
-
Be Responsible but not overwhelmed
With great freedom comes great responsibility. At Bitrefill, we trust everyone to do their job wherever they are, whenever they want, because we hold ourselves and others accountable for their commitments and contributions. This is a workplace for responsible grown-ups who deliver on their promises and let others know when they need help or simply a break.
-
Be Kind but not phony
Kindness is not optional. At Bitrefill, we treat everyone with consideration and respect, we assume good intentions and we show gratitude and love regularly. We are straightforward, and we firmly call people on their bullshit, but we do it with empathy and loyalty to improve each other as individuals and the company.
-
Be Present, but not always
Working remotely requires more presence than usual. At Bitrefill, we proactively reach out to others, we lend a hand wherever we can and we make an effort to ensure that everyone feels supported and seen. We roll up our sleeves and do the work, but we also know when to disconnect, have fun and relax.
Our Why:
-
Crypto is the generational opportunity to correct the shortcomings of our financial system and empower individuals with tech that can make their lives better. It used to be a major problem that you could not buy anything with crypto. We solved that. Now we are off to the rest of the challenge: bringing everyone on board.

Kind reminders
-
We have limited resources but unlimited ideas. Add yours to the mix but be prepared to argue for and against it. You are not your idea. Listen to others and weigh their arguments. Be prepared to change your mind. Seniority is not an argument, it’s a mandate to ensure your team discusses an idea thoroughly.
-
Our purpose is to make stuff that people want because it makes their lives better. Talk to people, and learn about them and their needs. We prefer simple solutions for actual problems to clever and complex stuff that no one uses.
-
Everyone’s time is precious, including yours. Book meetings thoughtfully, be clear about agenda and outcomes, privilege asynchronous work and don’t involve people unnecessarily.
-
Everyone has their own role and tasks, but we all share the same mission. There’s no such thing as “not my job”: if something needs doing, either handle it or make sure it gets handled.
-
Pioneering is uncomfortable, there are no maps, and the answers are not online. When you are doing stuff for the first time, you only learn by doing. Try, experiment, verify. Failing is fine, procrastinating is not.
-
Honest praise and recognition are the easiest to give away, so be generous with it: highlight your colleague’s strengths, and make sure they know you appreciate their help. Criticism is harder, but it is twice as useful when paired with love: let others know how they can improve. Feedback is how we grow, so give it whenever you can.
-
If you need something, ask for it. If you have an idea, pitch it. If you have a problem, share it. And if you think you have a solution, do it. Don’t wait for someone else to guess what you are thinking, but be sure that someone will listen and care.
-
Regardless of your role, there will be times when you will be asked to take the lead and times when you will be asked to commit and support. Excel at both equally.
-
You may work from home, but you don’t work alone: you are part of a diverse team of people from all over the world. Everyone thinks differently, worships differently, and jokes differently. Expect disagreements and misunderstandings, assume good intentions, and be honest and respectful.
-
Your teammates happen to be incredibly good at what they do, but they were hired also for their values and personality. They were cherry-picked as some of the coolest people on earth. Take an interest in them and you may end up finding amazing friendships.
